Our primary centre of action is in Wayanad at the Gurukula Botanical Sanctuary.
Our second is the Thiriyannara Refuge in the Nilgiris.

A centre for plant conservation, habitat restoration, and nature education
The outreach aspect of the rewilding initiative of the Sanctuary.
This includes all the educational work with children and youth at the Sanctuary.
Thanks to a grant from Rainforest Concern, our UK based partner, we have engaged in a long term project in the Upper Nilgiris, with land on a steep cliff side which is a tea and wattle plantation. Our efforts to bring wildlife and native species into this depleted area will unfold over the next decades.

Munnarakkunnu Trust (MKT) is the legal and financial entity behind the conservation and education activities of the Gurukula Botanical
Sanctuary, and its offshoot missions: School in the Forest, the Green Phoenix, Thiriyannara Refuge, and Apprenticeship in Ecological Nurturance.
MKT is registered under the Indian Trusts Act (Registration No: 408/1996-97 Date: 9th July 1996) with permission to receive money from India under section 12 A and 80G of Income Tax Act, 1961 and from abroad under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). MKT is also registered for undertaking CSR activities.
